Spanish Improbability

By Ravi V. Chhabra

In a world of improbabilities, the unexpected does happen. When the unreal turns to real. Two distinct cultures hug tightly as their lips lock with emotional thirst in their gleeful eyes. The saliva mingles loving in the alchemy of unabashed surreality.

Her Spanish eyes are at once motionless like the tall lush green trees staring towards us from around her as we meet up in Madrid. I go closer and feel her pointed chin, bend and smell her silken hair and stop short of asking her if we have met some where before as everything about her is just too familiar in every way!

Suddenly, she came nearer and whispered in my ear…yes, we have met before, I don’t recall when and where but does it matter?  How did she know what I had been asking only to myself?

We walked towards the thickest tree around the pathway to evade public gaze as we noticed a beautiful flowery plant climbing to that tree and I questioned my new-found long-distance friend – till when will these two opposite trees keep such close company?

She held my hand and stroked gently my graying hair and said – life like love is a four-lettered word, it can’t ever give you all the answers. Don’t expect so much from it…
